When you started to think slapping tones of skincare products on your acne prone skin will cut it, then you started to breaking out again, you might want to revisit your daily habits that can actually take a toll on your skin condition. Let’s take a step back and reevaluate your lifestyle. Does it really affect your skin? Does your job really stressing you out that your pimple gets worries and come out to say hello?
What does it takes to really have clear skin? You probably did not realize that your pillowcase can be the culprits to your acne all this while. Or the hairspray that lock your wild throne, can actually get transfered to your skin, thus, a random breakout!
Now, let’s take a stroll down today’s article to check out on our daily habits that we think are normal but acually is the cause to those vicious acne and breakouts.
1. You Sleep On The Side Of Your Face
Did you know that pillow actually can be so dirty because all of the flying lint, dust, dirt, and moisture from the air get absorbed into the pillow? Thus, harboring bacterias. So when you sleep sideways, your face is pushed on the pillow making all of the bacterias and dust sticks on your face. YUCKS!
What can you do: Either change your pillowcase every week, try the anti-acne pillowcase, or change your pillow into one of those travel neck pillows that have a curve and weird shape. It designed to avoid your face to get pressed on the pillow and leaving the side of your face breath freely and prevent your skincare to get rub off on the pillow.
2. You Let Your Hair Down While Sleeping
The residue of hair products on your hair plus the rubbing of your hair on your face while you sleep can be irritating on your skin. Not only all of the alcohol and chemical inside of the hair products can be the cause of your acne, but the free radical and dust that got caught on your hair can be the culprits too.
What can you do: Tie your hair into a high bun when you go to sleep. Not only you get a clear, non-disturbing sleep and free of acne, but you also get a loose wavy hair the next day without using heat styling tools. And you save times to get ready in the morning too! Win-win situation, skin free of acne plus cute sexy hair to complete your day!
3. You Never Clean Your Phone Screen
Do you know that the phone screen is dirtier and harbor more bacteria than our toilet seat? Either it is from your hand that has touched multiple dirty surfaces, from that subway pole, or those elevator buttons, remember? Or it is from the surface that has touched your phone, the cafe’s table where you had your lunch coffee earlier, perhaps? And then you proceed to use your phone regularly, putting your phone on your ear and cheeks while you are accepting calls.
That is the ugly truth. Your phone is so filthy that it can cause you breakouts! If you have acne problems only on the side of your face, now you know why.
What can you do: Start adopting a new habit by cleaning your phone screen with rubbing alcohol every day. It is easier if you use alcohol swabs that you can find in the most drugstore and is cheap too! Alcohol will disinfect and sanitize your screen phone and will instantly decrease the chance of you breaking out. Try it for a week and you’ll see the tremendous result. Trust me on this!
4. You Use Generic Packeted Vegetables And Meats From Your Local Supermarket
When I say that your carrot is not healthy enough for that salad you’re about to munch, you probably will let out the biggest groan ever. I understand… I do! What else should you do to have a decently healthy diet?! Well, if you already have a good daily habit where you clean your pillowcase regularly, you wipe down your phone to the T or having your hair away from your face while you’re sleeping, and you still got pimples?
Chances are, you are actually having a reaction to the pesticides and added growth hormones in your meats that can be bad for your skin too. Pesticides might be gone when you wash and rinse your greens, but what about the growth hormones in your dinner chicken? The growth hormone can throw off your hormones in your body to react differently towards your skin.
What can you do: Try free-range farmer’s produce where they did not practice giving foreign hormones shots or any growth stimulating drugs to their livestock or pesticides to the crops. Going organic is much harder and expensive as it’s being sold in the supermarket and all. Farmer’s market is way better, not only you get quality produces for your dinner table, but you also are helping small local farmer’s by buying their products instead of wasting money on the big corporations from the supermarket.
5. You Are Always Stressed-out And Tired
If all of those healthy living habits won’t work, try to revisit the last day when you are not stress. Being stress can also throw off your hormone balance in your body. If you are familiar with acne mapping, you would take your chin’s acne more seriously because that is where your stress ends up.
What can you do: Try a holistic approach by meditating, or even yoga if you want to amp up the effort to release those stress out. Not only meditating will help you to de-stressed and relaxed, but it is also will soften your strained muscle, heal your neck pain and also decreased your migraine. And there is actually legit research carried out to prove that meditation can improve health, including skin condition.
6. You Always Have Something Covered Your Forehead
Either it is the hat that you wear every day during a workout, or those new bangs that you rock, both can contribute to forehead acne. The sweats will cause bacteria to reproduce, thus clogging the skin and will lead to acne.
What can you do: Try not to wear a hat while you workout and is drenched with sweats or try to have your hair away from your face when its summer day and scorching hot outside. Always wipe your sweats off and have a nice shower right after a workout to get rid of all of that sweats bacteria and odor. And always use a face wash that has antibacterial properties in it, like tea tree oil based or citrus fruits based face wash. That will help to get rid more of the bacteria and will definitely help clear your forehead.
7. You Use Generic Chemical Detergent
If you suffer from eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis, you always going to be cautious by what you put on your body, am I right? It is the same concept as your detergent too. Your detergent will leave residue and fragrance on you washed laundry and that can be the cause of your chest acne and back acne.
The fragrance with all of that alcohol and chemical soap, and artificial coloring can be too harsh on your skin.
What can you do: Change your detergent into a natural detergent that is fragrance-free. Not only will it save your body from acne monstrosity, but it also helps the environment because natural detergent don’t have harsh chemical and the water waste that got washed into the ocean are not filled with the chemical. You can also DIY your own detergent too!
8. You Smooching Your Partner’s Bearded Face Too Much
Well… the same concept as sleeping on your hair earlier, your partner’s beard is no exception. Beard harbor bacteria just like hair did. The natural oil in the beard can also cause your face gets oilier. Not only that, the rough texture of the beard can cause your skin gets irritated and redden.
What can you do: Tell your loved one to wash his beard more often with anti-bacterial soap or, chopped off those beards! That would be too much… who doesn’t love a guy with the beard? The solution might be, to avoid snoodling too much for the sake of flawless and happy skin.
9. You Smoke Too Much
Smoking cause irritation and dryness for your skin. Not only you predispose your life to cancer, but also causing the breakdown of collagen and elastin of your skin that leads to premature wrinkle and enlarge pores. The carcinogen in the smoke also irritate your skin and will dry it out, triggering the skin to produce more oil, thus more breakout.
What can you do: STOP SMOKING! SAVE THE EARTH!
That’s it, you guys. It is something to ponder about, doesn’t it? You might not see it coming, all of the habits you’ve been doing for years are actually the culprits to all of your skin problems. Time for a change maybe? And remember, be the change that you wish to see in the world, in this case, your face.
